There are many things that must be in place for a civilization to be successful. One of the most important parts is to have laws set up that correlate with the civilization's overall moral beliefs. Hammurabi was one of the first people to set up laws and to write them down. His empire (Babylonia) is among the earliest I can find that includes a big portion of these following parts to a successful civilization. Having strong, moralistic leaders that have their eyes set on making a strong civilization are very important. When the teacher leaves the class, we for the most part stay quiet until a leader emerges and starts being bad. We follow. In the straw challenge, even though we weren't supposed to talk, there was a leader in place. If we broke the rules and talked, the leader was the first one to do it. A leader needs to keep in mind what is important for the society to be successful. Hitler could be thought of as a good leader, but did involving Germany in a world war and creating a holocaust really do any good at all for them? No, it didn't.
