In this essay I am going to discuss how Arthur Miller transformed a family argument into an exciting, dramatic, and theatrical event in the play A View from the Bridge. I will talk about characters, events and dramatic devices used to create such a dramatic event.
The protagonist of the play A View from the Bridge is the character of Eddie. He is a very over-powering and possessive character. He likes to be in control as often as possible and he appears to be in denial that Catherine is growing up. Although he is quite hospitable, by allowing Rodolpho and Marco to stay, he still enjoys mocking Rodolpho, resulting in being intimidated by Marco.
In the beginning of Act One, Catherine and Eddie are alone. Catherine has bought a new skirt and Eddie seems to disapprove, as he says to her:
I think its too short, aint it? and he tells Catherine you been giving me the willies the way you walk down the street. In this quote he is informing Catherine, very bluntly, that the way she walks and dresses in public is inappropriate. He could be showing very subtle implicat......
