The ability to make fire is defiantly the most significant technological development in early human history before the development of agriculture. With out the knowledge of how to create fire or use, there would of been a slim chance of human still excising on this earth today. Fire was used to cook food, and was also used for hunting, defence and light. Early man would eat meat raw, without it cooked but then when fire was discovered, the meat was cooked and was easier to chew. The very powerful jaws of the australopithecines were now no longer needed and the result was an evolution of our face and cranial structure. There are a number of diseases in raw meats, which can be deadly if not cooked. Fire played a big part in making hunting weapons, they would use it to harden the points of wooden spears so that the weapons could pierce the skin of rhinoceros, hunters had greater success and the food supply increased when this technique was used. Fire was also used for defence. They would throw burning sticks at animals to drive them always from peoples shelters. Fire......
