Symbolic Logic of the term Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The English word “if” is a difficult word to come to terms with. Despite the fact that it is utilized constantly in the English language, this segment of the language is inherently challenging to define in a straight-forward, descriptive manner. In symbolic logic, “if” takes the form of a material conditional, most often representing scenarios "If A, C" or "C if A" . In the world of symbolic logic then, “if” presents a somewhat candid concept that elicits a conclusion drawn from two or more scenarios / possibilities. For instance, “If Bill stays home, he will not go out. “is able to be adequately described in symbolic logic as A ) ~B . Here, the material conditional “if” presents two ultimatums stemming from two separate actions. If Bill decides to stay at home, it is simply not possible that he will be able to go out. In this case, “If” describes a scenario where only one action can occur, it is simply not feasible that both options are able to occur simultaneously.
