The Belegariad, Volume One By: David Eddings The setting of the book is on all kinds of terrain. It is set in what would she to most resemble medieval times. It is on an Earth-like planet. The atmosphere of the story is for the most part very serious, often dropping off to be very gloomy and the odd times it is happy. The problem that is faced by the protagonist is that the Mystical Orb that had protected the West from the evil god Torak. It starts on Faldor’s Farm, where Garion had been raised by his Aunt Pol. One day Faldor’s Farm is visited by a man known to Garion as Mister Wolf. Mister Wolf, Aunt Pol and Garion along with Durnik who has been caught up in the action and refuses to stay behind, leave the safety of Faldor’s Farm to pursue the orb that was stolen from the Riva. Mister Wolf AKA, Belgarath, is Garion’s grandfather many times removes and Aunt Pol is his daughter, AKA Polgara.
