We live in one of the largest cities in the United States. We have a transit system, but how much does it help? It is almost a necessity to own a car here. Other cities have better transit and their pollution isnât that bad. I know we do live in a valley and the pollutants are trapped. Aside from carpooling and mass transit, we have limited options. Could we use more electric vehicles? Not if they are mass-produced and made affordable. Cost! That is everyoneâs main concern. Nobody thinks ahead. When air pollution exceeds federal air quality standards, it can trigger a host of human health problems.
People donât care to hear about these things. They will continue to do what they have always done, go about their business. If the majority of people could see the long-term effects, they might change their minds and put more effort into a solution now. The data that was gathered here was the same that was collected in Los Angeles. The chemicals themselves had no smog type effects. It wasnât until sunlight was discovered as being the active ingredient......
