My book is called the Great Depression and it list some very important facts about it.
The Great Depression was an economic slump in North America, Europe, and other
areas of the world that began in 1929 and lasted until about 1939. It was the longest
and most severe depression ever experienced by the Western and the main world.
Though the U.S. economy had gone into depression six months earlier the Great
Depression may be said to have begun with a a devestating collapse of stockmarket
prices on the New York Stock Exchange in October 1929. During the next three years
stock prices in the United States continued to fall, until by late 1932 they had dropped to
only about 20 percent of their value in 1929. Now in this time banks and many other
stores and businesses started to closed and it caused major effect in the economy. It also
caused a general and nationwide loss of confidence in the economy witch led to much
reduced levels of spending and demand of production .The result was drastically falling
and drastically rising unemployment. ......
