THE DIFFERENCE AND SIMILARITIES OF Booker T. Washington and W.E.B Dubois Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Two of the greatest leaders of the Black Community in the late 19th and 20th Century were Booker T. Washington and W.E.B Dubois. Although these two men were great leaders, they disagreed on the strategies that they used for the black social and economic progress. They disagreed on what strategies to use when trying to put an end to racial injustice. W.E.B Dubois was a scholar and political thinker. He was born in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and received his education from Fisk, Harvard and the University of Berlin. Dubois was a writer and teacher. Dubois worked hard and aggressively toward civil rights for African Americans. He believed that Social Science could provide answers to race problems. He also felt that social change could only be accomplished by agitation and protest, and by developing a small group of college educated blacks, that he called the “Talented Tenth.” Dubois also believed that the problem of education among the blacks, must deal first with the “Talented Tenth”.
