Waking up to the smell of my mom making her tea in the morning, my sister coating herself with make-up, and my dog breathing in my face - these were the familiar routines in my life. Little did I know how quickly my life would change from the familiar to the unfamiliar while on my own!
In November, I left my life as I knew it and purchased an apartment with my best friend. This action, although seemingly commonplace for kids in my generation, has changed the meaning of my life. I now know that I am accountable for each and every one of my responsibilities and have learned that every battle has an outcome, whether itÂ’s good or bad. For example, not showing up for work would result in having no income, which would later result in not having the rent money in on time, therefore creating a late fee, which would mean I would need to work longer to earn the money to cover the rent and additional fees. Presenting myself as clean and orderly is essential for me. The dirty laundry was now my task because no one was at hand to do it for me. All the minor details in life that one do......
