We are faced with choices everyday. What to wear to class? What to eat for lunch? What major to pursue? Each of these decisions is reached with a plethora of information from selection of the proper outfit, to getting a great tasting meal, all the way to deciding on a career path at the age of nineteen. One choice we do not have is whether or not to consume water. Without water we will die. There is no substitute for this life giving liquid. There is no laboratory which can reproduce it synthetically in a test tube. We must drink water to survive.
These words must sound like the ring of a cash register to the private water companies of the world. Much the same as SUVs chug down gallon after gallon of an ever depleting supply of petroleum, the developed societies of the world consume ever increasing amounts of water. So, like any good capitalist nation, we decide to bottle water and make it available to the public at twice the cost of a gallon of gas. We pay near one dollar and twenty cents for twenty ounces of life giving water but complain to the heights of heaven when gas reaches......
