The original King Kong was created by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Shoedsack in 1933, during the great depression. The original was made by RKO pictures and was said to have saved them from bankruptcy. RKO were also the producers of Orson Wells Citizen Kane. King Kong 2005 was created by Peter Jackson and done with Universal. When Jackson first saw the original Kong he was inspired by it and tried to make his own version but it was never completed. He even said, It made such an impact on me, such a huge impression, that it was the moment in time when I had decided I wanted to be a filmmaker. Even though many remakes have come out between these two they are considered the best versions of Kong. While they are 72 years apart they still are very similar but have a few noteworthy differences. While the 2005 edition is based on very closely on the 1933 version the thing that sets them apart the most is the length.
