The Neighbors and Dinner for Two
"Neighbors" and "Dinner for Two" are two short films produced by The National Film Board of Canada, which are funny, animated and meaningful. The story of "Neighbors" is a parable about two people who come to blows over the possession of a flower. "Dinner for Two" is a fable about two animals which conflict for dinner. There are several similarities but a great number of differences between these two films.
In "Neighbors" and "Dinner for Two", there are several interesting similarities.
First of all, the themes of these two short films are similar. Both of them present a fundamental issue in conflict and sharing. In "Neighbors", two men quarrel over a flower that appears on the boundary of their properties. They build fences to stop the other from trespassing, violently attack each others wives and children and, finally, destroy themselves in mutual mortal combat. The film ends with a plea to Love Your Neighbor in several different languages. In the "Dinner for Two", a simple dispute between two small animals grows into a viol......
