Violence in sport is not a problem of our age or generation, it has occurred many times in the past, and we can be fairly sure it will continue occurring in the future. Being prepared to accept this inevitable violence, is unsatisfactory. If you play sport, you should have the right to a safe game, you do not deserve to be put at risk of the slightest acute injury, let alone soft tissue injuries that may prevent you from playing your next game, or even prevent you from ever playing again. It has been found that over 59% of sports injuries are caused by thoughtless acts of violence through aggression (Widmeyer 1999). How can you justify accepting violence? And how do you think it affects the spectators? This can be easily explained by working through the connotations of violence created by aggression or/and resulting in changes in arousal. The only place in which violence should be allowed and accepted is in sports that require it for the sport to function. The effects the violence may have on the offending play......
