Stem Cells: Murder or Savior? Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Every time you turn on CNN or FOXnews you see a new debate over the present hot button topic and one of these hot button topics is Stem Cells. When I first heard of the good that stem cells good do for people and the diseases that we now know to be uncureable I was flabbergasted of why they were trying to ban this. After doing some research I now have a better appreciation for both sides of the argument. Dont get me wrong I am still all for the more in depth study of stem cells if there is even the slightest chance that they can help to cure these diseases.
According to one website that I found, Stem cells are nothing but Master Cells that generate other differentiated cell types. Each tissue within the body contains a unique type of stem cells that renew and replace that tissue (e.g. nerve, brain, cartilage, blood) when needed due to damage or wear and tear. Stem cells of the blood (hematopoietic stem cells) generate all other blood cells in the human body, including red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells.
