One fact that has been established Andrew Jacksons lifetime is that he was considered the idol of American people. Respecting the character of Andrew Jackson and his influence, there will always be differences of opinion. He was a strong leader and for a young country of the early nineteenth century, Jackson fulfilled Americas need for a hero.
In the beginning there was the War of New Orleans. General Jackson offered his services along with 2500 other volunteers (Sumner 34). He threw himself into the business with all his might, and at once displayed activate, diligence and skill. (Sumner 35). This displayed Jacksons willingness to fight for his country and put himself out in the battle field and became a leader. During this war he had a restless and absorbing determination to eliminate anything that was hostile (Sumner 39). His victory over this war is what lead the hero in to becoming president.
