Iron Curtain Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The Iron Curtain was a physical and symbolic border that separated Europe in two. It was a border of communist Soviet Union and the rest of the “western” nations. The Curtain stretched all the way into Western Europe, pressing its borders into Germany, and Berlin. The Iron Curtain went on from the beginning of World War 2, all the way to the end of the Cold War. The dropping of the Curtain came about at the end of World War 2, the disputes over Germany, and the power of this communist regime, caused fear in the nations of the “west” nations. The initial fear of a powerful communist country was something the nations of the “west” were afraid of. The Iron Curtain was one of the most integral events of the 20th century which shaped the world as we know it. In December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person. This sparked a boycott of the Montgomery Bus company. The boycott started in Montgomery, Alabama. The boycott lasted from December 5, 1955 to December 21, 1956. The NAACP had been looking for someone like Parks to challenge the segregation laws ......
