Orthodontics is a part of dentistry which deals with problems in the mouth and jaw area. These problems are also known as malocclusions. Malocclusion comes from the Latin word, which means having a bad bite. This term relates to orthodontics in which the orthodontist corrects problems with the maxilla and mandible jaw troubles, however, it also relates to correcting crossbites, misaligned teeth, or any other problems relating to the teeth and jaw section. Malocclusion relates to the improper positioning of the teeth and jaw, and it can be medically corrected by applying orthodontics appliances to the needed areas of the teeth and jaw.
