Within the last couple of years, the United States has been faced with an interesting and extremely controversial question: Should homosexual couples be allowed to marry? This topic has been extensively covered in the news and the magnitude of the situation has been growing. In two states (Connecticut and Vermont), homosexual couples have been granted the rights of Civil Unions. In Massachusetts, they have been granted the right to marry (Connecticut approves). But these are only three states of our union of fifty. Several states have already banned gay marriage from ever taking place such as Texas. Therefore, the homosexual community and supporters have a great deal of work ahead of them. Many sympathize with the homosexual community and stand as a full supporter to their cause. Unfortunately, the country is extremely split on the issue. The publics opinion has fluctuated immensely in past years.
