High school freshmen may put on brave faces, but it often hides the fear of hazing and the normal stress of starting school. You're staring at the beginning of the best or the worst four years of your life, and the choice is pretty much up to you. Having to deal with stresses that can be overwhelming shows if you can handle them or not which is a sign of maturity.
You'll be treated more like an adult than a child. But that's an advantage that comes with additional responsibility, too. You'll have more choices, but you'll also be the one who manages your time, commitments, and schedule.
The best way to manage expectations about high school is to avoid having set ideas of how things will be. Prepare for the things you can like getting a map of your school so you know your way around.
