Questioning our Faith and Religious Beliefs in Dogma (the movie) Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The Kevin Smith film, Dogma, written in the late nineties deals with Catholicism and is basically a satire on traditional Catholic theology. Smith’s view on Catholicism is anything but that of old time religion. He expresses his firm commitment to the notion of a deity in a zany and thought provoking way, via various characters throughout the movie. Smith created the characters of Loki, Jay and Silent Bob and Rufus to play intentional roles that will leave you brooding over your own faith in God and your personal religious beliefs. Loki, the character played by Matt Damon, is the former angel of death who nostalgically recalls his renowned reigns of terror throughout the film. Loki also enjoys keeping the clergy and audience questionable on their views and catechisms of religion and how they let it effect their day to day life.
