On Sat. 17 Jul. after working in the morning at my office, I managed to hustle over to Walts . As I had prepacked, we left his house at 12:30pm. for what we refer to as a "short weekend of trout fishing". The other end of the trip is to leave the trout stream for home at noon the next day, which is a grand total of just under 24 hours, some of which is a good nights sleep. Given these parameters, we have two fishing periods: From arrival to cant see the first day, and from cant see till about 11:00am. the next.
We drove through Kalkaska at about 3:30pm. stopping only for gas and headed directly for the Rapid River, while I gathered my things together and changed into my boots. Walt dropped me off at the top of the hill where I could scoot down that two-track and start trout fishing about 200 yards upstream from where the Rapid crosses the road. We designated a meeting place for later (cant see), and Walt drove off to another fishing site downstream, upstream or to another trout stream nearby.
