The information contained within will come from the highly recognized and respected information within the law enforcement community, the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program was begun by the FBI in 1929 in response to a national initiative undertaken by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). The IACP’s goal was to develop a set of uniform crime statistics for use by police agencies and policy makers throughout the country. In 1930, the U.S. Congress enacted Title 28, Section 534, of the U.S. Code, which authorized the attorney general of the United States to begin gathering crime information. The attorney general designated the FBI to serve as a national clearinghouse......
