Comparing 'Out Out' And 'Funeral Blues' Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Leonardo Da Vinci once said, Our life is made by the death of others. This has been conveyed on many types of literature but especially in poems. I have been given two poems to compare and contrast which are based on the subject of death. One is Out, Out by Robert Frost and the other poem has been called many names but the most widely used is Funeral Blues by Wystan Hugh Auden which was made famous by the smash-hit box office film Four Weddings and a Funeral. I will compare and contrast both these influential and famous poems in the following paragraphs.
To get a greater understanding of the poem we need to understand the poet. Robert Frost was Americas most celebrated poet with four Pulitzer Prizes. He is known for poems on a searching and often dark meditation on a universal theme. Robert Frost lived and taught on Vermont where is poem Out, Out is set and is based on the death of Frosts neighbours son dying on his neighbours farm.
