In 1558 at the age of 25, Elizabeth Tudor became Queen Elizabeth, ruler of England. Mary had left the kingdom a divided mess and Elizabeth had to undertake the task of repairing it. The problems that plagued the nation at this time were nothing short of overwhelming. As a woman ruler, Elizabeth was looked at as an anomaly.
