April 28, 2005 Overview of Research Interests My professional interest is about emergency planning. I want to find out what happened on September 11, 2001 that made businesses and people change their emergency planning. I also want to find out what the government does for emergency planning after 9/11. Emergency planning was not really thought about until September 11, 2001. After that tragic event, that is when the government started renovating plans for emergencies. My senior project is also is going to be about emergency planning. Businesses have not really been concerned about emergency planning. FEMA have put out several emergency plans since September 11, 2001. The National institute of Occupational Safety and Health also had put out emergency plans for businesses. Every business should have an emergency plan of action. Homeland Security was created after the September 11th attacks. They were put in to increase intelligence and warning in every state. They are in charge of borders and transportation security.
