Every kid in this country at one point or another has eaten a Hershey’s chocolate bar. “Hershey is an American icon,” says Fellenbaum, from a magazine article. “You tell people your work is associated with quality and pride, the legacy of Milton Hershey” (Anthes, 2003). For generations the name Hershey has been a household word identified with fine chocolate products throughout the country and around the world. The man who began it all, Milton S. Hershey, was satisfied to let his accomplishments and products speak for themselves (Discover Hershey, 2004). Born shortly before the American Civil War in a field stone house built by his great-grandfather was a boy who grew up speaking Pennsylvania Dutch dialect (Lancto, 2005). Born September 13, 1857, on a farm near Derry Church, a small Pennsylvania community, Milton Hershey was the only surviving child of Fannie and Henry Hershey.
