Obituary of Martin Luther Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Martin Luther 1483-1546 Today we mourn the loss of a great man, and an impactful leader. Martin Luther forever changed western Christendom during the reformation of the protestant church. Luther was notorious for his 95 Theses. These 95 Theses were criticisms of the church, and led to the reformation. In addition, he criticized the craze of buying indulgences. He believed that faith alone would bring you to heaven; not giving vast sums of money to the church. Luther taught that the Bible should be the sole authority to the church. He said to trust in Jesus and to trust in the bible. Our minds were corrupted with this false view of what spending time in purgatory was like, prior to Martin Luther. He came and showed us that giving money wasn’t the answer, that faith alone would save our soles from a long time in purgatory or even hell. After Martin Luther, we were not so afraid of speaking our minds. Luther spoke up and expressed himself in ways that none of us had the power to do. He suffered the consequences of his harsh opinions, because his ideas need to be voice......
