The Tempest By William Shakespeare Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In this play the tempest, it is set on an island in the Mediterranean Sea probably off the coast of Italy and is set in the renaissance. In the beginning, the character, Prospero creates the tempest, causing his enemies’ ship to wreck and its passengers be dispersed about the island. From this, I gather that the main set would logically be the island. There is no need to have a ship gliding across stage because this part is only a split second. The set can be very simple and the play calls for very little set wise. In this case, it would be completely up to the director how to stylize it. Clothing would need to be simple while still reflecting the period. The shipmates would need to have clothes that they could work in, the Kings of Nables would need high class attire, one of the things that would need to be researched and Prospero’s clothing must also effect the environment he has been confined to. All aspects should intertwine with each other. The set, costumes, lights, should all reflect the time and setting and flow with each other. In the Tempest, the character Prospero......
