Wanting more than we need can be destructive because it leads to a selfish, greedy, and materialistic environment. Examples of selfishness are seen every day like when you see very successful businessmen on television crying about paying more taxes when down the road from his house is a mother trying to raise four children by herself. Furthermore, selfishness has become common place in the corporate work place as in some cases, thousands of jobs are lost just so a corporate executive can retire somewhere in Europe. Another way we are poisoning our way of life is that we have become very greedy people. The scene in New Orleans after the hurricane can best describe the very greedy nature that has come to be accustomed in this nation. Feeding your family is one thing, but stealing movies, athletic sneakers, and electronics is another. Lastly, we have become arguably the most materialistic people in the world.
