The issue discussed deals with weather or not markets should or shouldn’t be allowed to solve the shortage in body parts. This article takes an economic perspective on the issue and looks at both sides of this issue. The yes, or pro, side of the issue supports market intervention in solving the problem, and the no, or con side, deals with the exact opposite and does not support the practice. I will start this paper off by talking about the yes, or pros of this issue. The first thing that is discussed is the rationing of the organs that can be transplanted. Organs can be rationed just like anything else but they are the most controversial. They could be rationed by using a lottery, coupons, or on a first come first serve basis. Statistically about ten Americans die each day while waiting for an organ transplant and over the last ten or so years the wait time for a donor organ has nearly doubled, according to Charles T. Carlstrom and Christy D. Rollow. Because of these grim statistics, they also believe that we must find a way to increase the supply or organs, even if that......
