The Glass Menagerie Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

All stories have a protagonist in which that character is the main one of the plot. In some cases there are more then one. In this case for The Glass Menagerie, by Tennessee Williams, in which the plot centers itself around three characters. These three characters are Laura, Amanda and Tom Wingfield. Tom is a ware house employee who feels trapped and is looking for a way out. Laura is extremely self conscious because she is slightly crippled. Amanda is the mother who is a little over protected of her children. Although there are three protagonists to this story, Tom is the one running throughout the play. Laura and Amanda’s problems throughout the story are solved with no interruption. They both may be given a lot of attention too but Tom tells the story through his memories and point of view. Each of the characters go through a transition. In the beginning they are all in a state of mind which confuses them from real and fake. By the end of the play they all move out of that confusion and are able to face the facts. They all moved from the world of dreams to truth of a less si......
