In the year 2003, there is an estimated 950,000 individuals in Tennessee who have a disability, or around 17.9% of the population age 5 and above. Furthermore, an estimated 174,000 individuals, or about 3.3% of the population 5 and above, have difficulty carrying out self-care activities, also called as Activities of Daily Living like bathing, dressing, or getting around inside the home.
