Ghandhi Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Mahatma Gandhi’s life was characterized as being one of the most influential people in the struggle against Britain by India. He was the leader of the nonviolent revolution against the British and he won using wits rather than violence. Anthony J. Parel’s article “Gandhi on the Dynamics of Civilization” defines Gandhi’s motivation for helping India win this struggle and how he was able to revolutionize a country’s beliefs. David M. Fahey’s article “Poverty and Purification: The Politics of Gandhi’s Campaign for Prohibition” takes a more in-depth analysis into Gandhi’s belief on ridding India and its people of alcohol. Fahey and Parel both argue that Gandhi was influential to India overcoming British rule, however Fahey believes it to be a single belief, which aided India to win rather than Parel’s belief that Gandhi wanted a better society as a whole, and not a single idea.
