The beginning of the twentieth century brought about great advancements in science and technology. One of its leading and most controversial was Werner Heisenberg. Even in his early twenties, he was apart of the gifted, young men who created quantum mechanics and the basic physics of the atom. He also quickly became a leader in nuclear physics and elementary principle research. He is most widely known for his uncertainty principle and uses of quantum mechanics. Within the first two years he attended the University of Munich, he published four research papers. Three of the papers dealt with atomic spectroscopy and one with hydrodynamics. These essays put Heisenberg on the top of the leaders on the quantum atomic physics research. On March 22, 1927, he published the fourth of his essays entitled “On the perceptual content of quantum theoretical kinematics and mechanics.” This essay contained the most famous and far-ranging achievement in physics, his formulation of the uncertainty or indeterminacy principle of quantum mechanics.
