A Room of One’s Own This book by Virginia Woolf was very entertaining to read and was a good look at what it takes to be creative from a woman’s point of view. Because this book was written by a woman, some of the ideas and thoughts were different than ones which I would have developed, and parts of it seemed to be from a sexist point of view. In her view, it is much harder for a woman to succeed in the world, which is definitely true of her time period and still is true to this day. She offers insights into creativity which I had not thought about until I read this book. Virginia Woolf seems like a feminist person, and the title of the book suggests that every person needs a room of their own. She says, “A woman must have money and a room of her own.” While it is easier to think and formulate thoughts for most people if they have an inspiring room, a room which is theirs and theirs only, it is also helpful to formulate ideas and have somebody else critique them.
