Malaysia and Singapore - so close but yet so far apart. Both the countries share the same unique mixture of Malays, Chinese and Indians. Although they vary in sizes, the task of managing them remains as challenging as ever.
Singapores Quest
Singapore, which only achieved its identity after Sir Stamford Raffles overtook it, was populated with Malays when it was first found. However, as the name suggests, the Malays were from Malaysia and Singapore as an individual country did not really have its own people-the Singaporeans. However, over time with the British rule, Singapore became a prominent trading port and many people were attracted to it. The people included the Chinese pre dominantly who were attracted to Singapore due to its free immigration policy, job and business opportunities and its peaceful state. Many of the Chinese were also keen on leaving China due its natural disasters and the instability that was causing sufferance to the locals.
