Horrendous was crimes are not a thing of the past. As recently as two years ago, the hostilities between Arab and non-Arab Africans escalated into deadly raids designed to drive the non-Arab Africans out of their territory. In 2003 in West Darfur, Africa many war crimes took place. The Arab Africans were trying to force the non-Arab Africans out of their territory, in doing so they burned villages and much more. Many responded with retaliation while others were confused and scared. Resulting in tremendous casualties and many people left homeless and starving.
The last time he saw his village, Sheik Haroun Ishag was running for his life. In 30 minutes one morning in December 2003, gun men on horses and camels slaughtered 37 of his neighbors. They burned homes, stores, schools, and the mosque. They stole every cow and goat in site. They even took the schools tin roof.
