It was first identified more than fifty years ago, and it is usually diagnosed by the age of three. Autism affects people of every different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds (1). Throughout history, there have been many people who have showed behaviors that resemble autism, which go back to the 18th century. It is believed to have been first introduced around 1911 by noted Swiss psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler, who used the term to describe an individual's exclusion of the outside world and virtual withdrawal from social life.
