Genocide in Rwanda Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In 1994, one of the most horrific cases of genocide since the holocaust was let to happen after the world claiming “Never Again”. “Genocide” as defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary is “The deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, Political, or cultural group.” This definition clearly identifies the circumstances in 1994 of Rwanda, a small, poor, central African country. The Rwandan genocide was the extermination of over 800,000 Tutsi, an ethnic group in Rwanda, by the Hutu, which is one of another ethnic group in Rwanda. Before, during, and after the thoroughly planned slaughter, actions by the U.S. government and other world powers were a immensely significant factor in the unfolding of events. And the outcome of those “actions” were almost generally damaging. To fully understand why this slaughter occurred, one must first look at the history of the Hutu and the Tutsi living within the small African country of Rwanda.
