Latin American Immigration Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Latin American Immigration Introduction There are many origins of immigration into the United States. I chose to focus my research on Latin America, and more importantly, Mexico and Guatemala, based on a few factors that play key roles in the development of the United States. Latin Americans, including Mexicans, account for 53% of the United States’ foreign-born population. Mexicans are the largest of this group, accounting for more than 30% of the total foreign-born population in the United States, Guatemalans and El Salvadorians are distant runners-up. Mexicans also account for the largest proportion of the illegal immigrant population in the US. (9.) Even though Mexico sends the largest amount of people, the reasons for immigration from Mexico and Guatemala differ greatly. These differences have caused a lot of controversy over the years.
