What do you feel is the most influential in bringing about Macbeth’s downfall? Shakespeare’s Macbeth is a classic tragedy, a story that is still told today. The play is about Macbeth, one of the thanes of Scotland, a war hero, his plot of taking over the throne and his downfall. The play is a brilliant mix of realism and fantasy, morals and ambitions. It tells a tale about the nature of humanity that goes beyond good or evil, in which Macbeth is not only the villain, but also the biggest victim, victim of his own ambition, his lack of personality, victim of manipulation, and also an ultimate victim of fate. The downfall of Macbeth is a combined result, caused by various influencing factors, both natural like influence from Lady Macbeth and supernatural, such as the Witches, or ultimately the role of destiny.
