“Galileo was the guy who invented the telescope.” This is what most people say when they think about Galileo. However, Galileo did not invent the telescope, he only made improvements to it, to make important discoveries about astronomy; which helped to prove that the sun was the center of the universe. Galileo also made contributions to Physics; he discovered the hydrostatic balance, thermometer, and much more. For all these discoveries, Galileo is known as the “Father of Science.” Galileo Galilei was born during in Pisa, Italy on February 15, 1564. He was raised by his mom, Giulia Ammanati, and his dad, Vincenzo Galilei. When he was about seven years old, his family moved to Florence where he started his education. In 1581 at the age of 18, his father sent him to the University of Pisa because he thought his son should be a doctor. He begun to study medicine but became interested in math. In 1585, he convinced his father to let him leave the school without a degree to pursue a job as a teacher. He spent about 4 years looking for a job while in the meantime, he tutored math stu......
