The Vichy Government Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
The Vichy Government or Vichy regime, was a government that was formed in the 1940's during the reign of Nazi German in WW2. The Vichy of France was established after France surrendered to Nazi Germany. The Vichy Government was established in Vichy France, because German troops did not occupy that part of France until November 1942. The Vichy Government was a government that I think was used to try and keep France alive. The Vichy Government would help Germany such as imprison people that were rebellious of Germany, deportation of Jewish people, and they even sent some 650,000 French workers to work in Germany. When the German offensives had reached the Maginot Line, it was pretty much time for France to collapse, and that is exactly what happened. When France signed a surrender in June 22 1940, it was time for the Vichy to appear and that is pretty much how the Vichy government took place.
