Up until the last few decades, media and society were never really seen to have a connection. Media was dictated by news and society was dictated by tradition. Once advertising was popularized by things such as the TV it changed media profoundly, and society next. TV turned media into the ad wielding juggernaut we know it as today. A persons lifestyle is now largely influenced by the media, even if they do not realize it or accept it. A person could reject all the media presents to them and still be effected by it. The Media is attempting to make a new form of society based around their products by constant advertising, consumer manipulation and implanting their ideas in children and teenager’s minds. So long as we live in modern society, everyone will continually be shaped by the media. The media’s best and most common method of shaping society is with advertisements, this is also the first step in shaping a new society.
