Lady Macbeth Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Macbeth, one of the greatest tragedies written by William Shakespeare, tells a story about uncontrollable ambition, which ultimately destroys Macbeth and his wife, Lady Macbeth. Originating from a prophecy entitled with power and the throne, Lady Macbeth urges her husband to take control of their fate and fulfill their destiny. Lady Macbeth’s desire for power prompts her interest in controlling Macbeth. She is able to control his actions and decisions; however she loses her control which leads to her own demise. Lady Macbeth’s indomitable will sets Macbeth on the irreversible course toward destruction and downfall with her demanding words. She will meet demons in her sleep as the guilt of murder preys on her soul, and she will take her own life trying to escape the restraints of memory. Lady Macbeth wants the murder of Duncan for her own gains, as she is purely power hungry. The weird sisters predicted that Macbeth would be king, meaning she would become queen.
