The Impact and Factors of the development of Verona ( in Shakespeare) Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In the story of Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, the city of Verona undergoes many changes through out the text. Each family, each law, each outburst, fight and feud adds to the development and flavour of the city. Through the development of Verona throughout the play, Shakespeare reveals the distinctiveness, character and individuality of this city and how change occurs with the impact of the families, the violence and the law enforcement found in Verona. One of the many families that have impact upon Verona, were the Caplets; Old Capulet, Lady Capulet and Juliet. Old Capulet is portrayed as an elderly man who is used to having his own way. He can be an affectionate father, but if irritated, he becomes furious and violent. Towards the outset of the play, Old Capulet is portrayed as a stern character who dominates his wife, servants and daughter Juliet. He believes he has total control over his entire family, including Juliet. “Ay, you have been a mouse-hunt in your time; But I will watch you from such watching now.” (Shakespeare 4.4.12-13) In this quotation......
