Betty Crocker and Her White Picket Fence From the 1950’s until the 1960’s American women tried to portray an image that is best visualized by the television family “The Happy Days.” The immaculate clean house, a freshly painted white picket fence. A family with a perfect mother who is happy, and a father that works all day and is happy when he gets home from work. Two children that are straight A students and when they come home they happily share the television and watch the Mickey Mouse club, but only after they finished their homework with out being forced to. Mother were expected to and trained in high school to not only find the perfect male to make their husband, but were also trained on how to keep that man as their husband. The expectation was that women were to bear the children, rear them, clean their house, run errands, do grocery shopping, chaffer the children to and from scouts and brownies, have their dinner placed on the table exactly the same time that their husband is due in the door, listen to them complain about their day at work and what we......
