Many would agree that the roles of women throughout the 1900’s have changed dramatically. In comparison with today’s society, women back then had very few rights and freedoms. Often times, they were victimized by society and had to lead lives based on a gender bias; males being the favored, of course. When is enough, enough? When will someone gain courage to speak out? Who would want to live the rest of their lives under discrimination and inequality? Although one voice isn’t enough to make change for millions, one voice is all that it takes to begin a metamorphosis. As Neil Armstrong once said, “One small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind” (Armstrong). Women all over the nation began to unite as they realized taking risks would be the only way to make room for change. Although the progress of women’s equality and new freedom came slowly, through the persistence of reformation, the roles of women would eventually be revolutionized.
