Introduction Racism is all around us in daily life, no matter where we are or what we are doing. Good morning classmates and Mrs Schlam today I will be talking about racism, and how it was used and developed in the highly-acclaimed novel, ““Deadly Unna?””. “Deadly Unna” Is a novel written by Phillip Gwynne about fourteen-year old Gary Black’s life living at the rocky wastes of the Port. The novel is based around the game of football but deals with many issues facing adolescents such as racism, human behaviour, courage, morals, violence, sacrifice and relationships. This novel combines humour, sports, fine writing and the theme of racism to depict and narrate Gary Black’s Life at living in the Port. Racism is the belief that members of one race are superior to members of another race. In the world, racism has caused problems such as slavery and genocide; however in the book it has caused the segregation of the Aborigines and the white Australians from communicating much with each other and that is exactly how Phillip Gwynne exploits the idea and relates it into the......
