Comparison Othello/Oedipus Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The Masked Vision of the Centrals Characters resulting on their Fall from the Top of Society Othello the More of Venice and Oedipus the King are at the top of society. They have power, richness, and loving wives. But for both a little detail will bring them down. From the beginning until the end they do not see all steps of the story as the readers do. This non-vision results in a tragic ending for Oedipus and Othello. Sophocles and Shakespeare play with that making the awakening of the heroes particularly difficult. Their reactions after this awakening are interesting to follow. Indeed each writer has his personal way to describe it and making this become emotional for the spectator. Comparing and looking at the two plays we see that sight and insight can be totally different during a play. This results on an exciting falling action seeing how Othello and Oedipus react after the loss of their high status. In “Oedipus the King” a lot of elements of the play are masked. We as readers do not know a lot more than Oedipus. But we have a big premonition that the play will not finish......
